Selection of candidates for admission into both UG and PG programmes is done
on the basis of separate Entrance Examinations : Under Graduate Entrance
Examination (UGEE) for Arts, Science or Commerce & Post Graduate Entrance
Examination (PGEE) and Career Assessment. Normally the Entrance Examinations
are held in the month of June every year for which the candidates are to apply
earlier through appropriate form provided by the college. Every important dates
are basically notified in the Notice Board of this site before time.
Eligibility
(i) For UGEE : Minimum 40% of marks (without extra/fourth
optional) in the +2/CHSE/Equivalent Examination.
(ii) For PGEE : Minimum 45% of marks in Honours in the subject
concerned.
NB:(a) Candidates who have appeared in the Annual +2/CHSE or an
equivalent examination, can apply for the UG entrance examination. Similarly,
candidates who have appeared in the final of the three-year-degree bachelors
examination in honours can apply for the PG entrance examination. If a candidate
fails to secure the minimum percentage of the marks in the examination/subject
concerned, he/she shall not be considered for admission regardless of his/her
performance in entrance examination.
(b) Students passing without honours are not eligible to apply for PGEE.
(c) Those who have passed the Three Year Degree Examination from a
University/Institution situated outside the state of Orissa where provision of
honours does not exist, will be eligible to apply for PGEE provided they have
taken examination in the subject concerned with eight papers carring at least
800 marks, subject to the minimum eligibility condition as laid down above.
Nature of Examination
(i) Both UGEE and PGEE shall be of 90 minutes duration.
(ii) Each candidate shall be given a question-cum-answer test booklet
containing the questions and the space for answering the questions.
(iii) Questions for the UGEE shall be of +2 standard and set from the
prescribed CHSE syllabus. All questions shall be of the
multiple-choice-answer-type carrying one mark each.
(iv) A candidate for UGEE shall answer a total of 120 questions in
all, divided into four units of 30 questions each. The first unit is compulsory
for all and shall consist of questions on English (see Annexure). The candidate
shall choose the other three optional units from the choice available in the
test booklet.
(v) For PGEE, the questions shall be that of the honours syllabus (of
Utkal University) concerned, and the distribution of marks and pattern of
questions shall be as follows :
(a) Thirty objective/very short answer
type questions carrying one mark each : 1X30=30
(b) Ten short answer type questions
carrying 3 marks each : 3X10=30 . Full mark is 60.
Selection for Admission
Selection for admission to UG and PG classes shall be based upon the
performance in the entrance examination and career assessment as detailed below.

The merit list of the candidates shall be determined by taking the marks
obtained by the candidates as given above. Merit shall be the sole criterion for
filling up of 90% of the seats available in a faculty, while remaining 10% of
the seats shall be filled on the merit list of reserved category as per Govt.
rule.
